Gunmen Kill Guard, Abduct 12 Workers at Balochistan Construction Camp

Heavily armed gunmen attacked a construction company's camp in Balochistan's Duki district on September 26, 2026, killing a private security guard, wounding two other people and abducting 12 workers after checking their identity cards, police told The Express Tribune. No group had claimed the attack.

What happened at the camp

The attack struck the company's base in the Palari area of Nana Sahib Ziarat, Duki district. Private security guard Muhtajur Rehman, originally from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was killed, and guard Imran Wazir and a local bystander, Latif Tareen, were wounded. The attackers rounded up the workers inside the camp, checked their identity cards and took 12 of them. Duki Superintendent of Police Mansoor Ahmed Buzdar said initial information indicated that 10 of the abducted workers were from Punjab and two were ethnic Pashtuns. The gunmen set fire to heavy construction machinery at the site and fled into the surrounding hills.

Bol News put the number of abducted workers at 18, a figure that differs from the police count of 12.

A separate attack in Dera Bugti

In a separate incident that began around midnight on September 26, militants attacked the residence of Dera Bugti District Council Chairman Ghulam Nabi Shambani in Loti, Arab News reported. An official said eight attackers and one member of the local peace force were killed as the peace force and police repelled the assault. Shambani was not at home at the time, and an aide said six militants were captured alive. No group claimed that attack either.

The response so far

Police and Frontier Corps personnel cordoned off the Duki area and launched a joint search operation across the district to locate the abducted workers. No recoveries or arrests had been reported as of this writing.

Other recent incidents in the province
