Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Build Better Pakistan ("we", "us") collects when you use https://www.buildbetterpakistan.com (the "Site"), why we collect it, and the choices you have. You can read the Site without creating an account or telling us who you are.

Information we collect

  • What you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message. If you sign up for the weekly briefing, we receive your email address.
  • Usage data. We use Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used: pages viewed, time on page, the page that referred you, approximate location (country or city level), and general device and browser information. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this, subject to your cookie choices (see below).
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information, such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request, to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse.

We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, sensitive personal information such as identity document numbers, financial details or health information through our forms.

How we use information

  • To reply to messages, tips and correction requests you send us.
  • To send the weekly briefing to people who asked for it.
  • To understand readership and improve the Site.
  • To keep the Site secure and working.

We do not sell personal information. Advertising partners may use cookies to show ads, including personalised ads, as described under "Cookies and advertising" below.

Services that process data for us

  • Vercel hosts the Site and processes server logs.
  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) processes usage data. You can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or your browser's cookie settings.
  • Google AdSense (Google LLC) serves advertising and, depending on your cookie choices, uses cookies as described below.
  • FormSubmit (formsubmit.co) receives contact-form and sign-up submissions and forwards them to our inbox at info@buildbetterpakistan.com.

These providers may process data outside Pakistan, under their own privacy terms. The Site also links to other websites, including share links to X, Facebook, WhatsApp and LinkedIn. Those sites are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

Cookies and advertising

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. The Site uses two kinds of optional cookies:

  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, which count visits and show how the Site is used.
  • Advertising cookies from Google (Google AdSense) and its advertising partners. These are used to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, prevent fraud and, where allowed, show ads based on your interests and your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on those visits. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: analytics and advertising cookies are off by default. We only set them, and only show personalised ads, if you choose "Accept all" in our cookie banner. If you choose "Reject all", you may still see non-personalised ads, which use cookies only where necessary for things such as frequency limits, fraud prevention and measurement.

All visitors can change or withdraw their choice at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. You can also turn off personalised Google ads in Google's My Ad Center, opt out of interest-based ads from many other providers at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu, or block cookies in your browser settings. The Site works without optional cookies.

We store your cookie choice in your browser so we don't ask on every visit. Clearing your browser data resets it.

Your choices and rights

  • To stop receiving the weekly briefing, reply to any briefing email or write to info@buildbetterpakistan.com.
  • To ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or for it to be corrected or deleted, email info@buildbetterpakistan.com. We will respond within 30 days.
  • You can change your cookie choices at any time from "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page, or refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings. The Site still works without them.

Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies; on our legitimate interest in running and securing the Site for server logs; and on our legitimate interest in responding to you, or your request, for messages and briefing sign-ups. You can withdraw consent at any time, and you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your data, to object to processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

How long we keep information

We keep messages for as long as needed to deal with them and any follow-up, and briefing sign-ups until you unsubscribe. Google Analytics data is kept under Google's retention settings for our account. We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children

The Site is written for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and significant changes will be noted on this page.
