19 Killed in Balochistan Security Operations Across Three Districts

Pakistan's military said security forces killed 19 militants in a run of operations across three Balochistan districts between September 21 and 23, 2026. The figures come from the military's media wing and have not been independently verified.

What ISPR reported

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), as reported by the state news agency APP, the largest single action was a clearance operation launched on September 21 in the Shaban area of Quetta district, after intelligence reports pointed to several militant hideouts there. ISPR said 13 militants had been killed so far in that operation, which it said would continue "until the complete neutralization of the threat in the area", and that weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered. Separately, on September 22 and 23, forces carried out what the military called pre-emptive, intelligence-based operations in Kech district and in Quetta West, killing six more militants in firefights. That brings the reported total to 19 across the three-day, three-location campaign, Radio Pakistan reported.

ISPR said one Pakistani soldier, Subedar Muhammad Jamil, 39, a resident of Taunsa Sharif in Dera Ghazi Khan district, was killed in an exchange of fire during the Kech and Quetta West operations, according to APP. The military described the militants as belonging to groups it refers to as "Fitna al-Khawarij" and "Fitna al-Hindustan", which it described as Indian-sponsored. The labels and the allegation of Indian backing are the military's own and have not been independently verified.

Part of the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign

ISPR tied the operations to Azm-e-Istehkam, the counter-terrorism campaign approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, and said the campaign would continue "at full pace". It said security forces remained committed to eliminating "the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism" from the country.

A separate campaign from the BLA's own claims

This episode is distinct from the Balochistan Liberation Army's own claim of 28 operations across a dozen districts between September 1 and 7, including the group's account of an ambush it said killed 18 Frontier Corps soldiers near Ziarat. The Shaban, Kech and Quetta West operations reported here happened roughly two weeks later, in different locations, and the casualty figures come from the military rather than the militant side.

What's unverified

The 19-militant figure and the soldier's death were both reported by ISPR. Build Better Pakistan has found no independent casualty count from the affected areas.
